Bill and Beth Ann
Bill and Beth Ann couldn't be more ecstatic at having been chosen as the West Virginia District Couple of the Year. They are proud to serve the GWRRA as the District Couple of the Year and plan to travel to as many rallies in the upcoming year as possible. They want to promote the Couple of the Year program and are working towards being great Ambassadors for the district. Their motto is "hug and have fun with your friends as often as you can because life is too short and you don't want to miss anything along the way!!"
Bill and Beth Ann know how short life can be. Bill lost his wife Linda to cancer just three short years ago and Beth Ann lost her husband David to a sudden heart attack. They both are from Morgantown and call themselves "townies" but had not really met until mutual friends introduced them. Bill says it was love at first sight but Beth Ann had to be more convinced. After several months of dating, and Beth Ann getting tired of Bill asking, they were married on August 25th, 2005. Beth Ann has two sons, Aaron and Evan, and Bill has one son, Bill, Jr. They have two grandchildren by Bill's son and Beth Ann's two sons just got married this summer which means they now have two daughter-in-law's too.
Bill has always ridden a motorcycle but Beth Ann only experimented with riding while in high school so riding a Harley and Gold Wing was a new experience. When they met Bill had three bikes, a Suzuki Volusia, Honda Gold Wing, and a Harley Ultra Classic. While dating Bill would pick Beth Ann up on the Harley and they would ride anywhere and everywhere. Bill belonged to the local GWRRA chapter in Morgantown and when they were married Beth Ann became a card holding Co-Rider member.
Three months later they were approached about becoming the Chapter I Couple of the Year. They agreed and started serving immediately, selling 50/50 tickets, meeting greeters, attending other chapter's meetings, going on chapter rides, and preparing for their big debut at the WV Winter Rendezvous in Charleston. They made quiet an impression and Beth Ann earned her new nickname of "#11". They also met a great group of new friends from Tennessee and enjoyed the camaraderie of the organization. Several months later they agreed to become the Assistant Chapter Directors for Chapter I and added to their duties. They have attended fun days throughout the state and worked on several charity fund raisers.
Since becoming the District Couple of the Year they have traveled to several rallies and hope to keep going to as many as they can. Beth Ann works for the West Virginia School of Medicine as an Admissions Officer and travels throughout the state doing recruiting when she isn't winging it. Bill is semi-retired, not by choice but by falling 30 feet out of a tree in their back yard. He has a huge "honey-do" list that Beth Ann keeps adding to but he still finds time to ride. They currently own a Candy Apple Red mural trimmed 1995 20th Anniversary trike with matching trailer. They are very proud to show off their trike and Bill will even take and pick-up Beth Ann from work just to show it off.
Even though they have only been married for two years they share a lot of common interests and hobbies. They make their own homemade wine and enjoy visiting wineries on their travels. They know better than to drink and drive so they just collect bottles from different places they have visited. One day they promise to have a big celebration at their home with all of their friends and sample the wines from their travels. They enjoy being with their extended families and consider everyone they meet a friend. They have met so many interesting and new people since becoming involved with GWRRA and they plan to meet a whole lost more!!
